  • Meet other residents of the Slyne-with-Hest Community.

Memorial Hall Appeal Fund:

A year which began for us with optimism has not gone nearly so well as we had hoped. The friends of the Memorial Hall Appeal, launched in January, produced a disappointing result. Only 110 households responded out of 1,300 in the village (8.5%). With interest and support for the redevelopment project at such a low level the Committee has reluctantly concluded that the project is unattainable in its present form and in the existing economic climate. The object of the Appeal was to generate sufficient funds of our own to enable us to apply for match funding grants, which were needed to launch the project. Obviously, times are against us and it is a sad end to this particular initiative. We will, however, be going ahead with a much more modest programme of improvements, beginning with the ladies toilets in 2010.
